David Agus is a prostate cancer specialist who directs the Spielberg Family Center for Applied Proteomics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He and his colleagues aim to understand the underpinnings of individual variation and use that information to predict treatment responsiveness and improve patient care.

Carlos Camargo, M.D.

Carlos Camargo is an emeritus clinical professor of medicine at Stanford University Medical Center, where he has been on the faculty for more than 40 years. He is the director of the medical history course and a three-time recipient of the Kaiser Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Nierenberg has been the personal physician to many of Silicon Valley's CEOs, venture capitalists and lawyers, as well as prominent national and international figures. He has been mentioned frequently in local and national publications as a top internist. Dr. Nierenberg practiced internal medicine in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, California, for 30 years, serves as an emeritus clinical professor of medicine at Stanford University and consults in the legal and venture capital arena. Dr. Nierenberg is also medical advisor to Shalon Ventures, a company developing medical devices.

Chair: Jeffrey Trent, Ph.D.

Jeffrey Trent is president and scientific director of the Translational Genomics Research Institute, whose mission is to make and translate genomic discoveries into advances in human health. Prior to forming TGen, Dr. Trent served for 10 years at the National Institutes of Health, where he founded and directed the laboratory division in charge of coordinating and finalizing the Human Genome Project.

David Botstein and colleagues proposed a method in 1980 for mapping genes that laid the groundwork for the Human Genome Project. He is director of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics and Anthony B. Evnin professor of genomics at Princeton University and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Isaac Kohane is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, where he uses genomics and computer science to study cancer and the development of the brain, with emphasis on autism. He has developed computer systems to allow hospitals to be used as "living laboratories" to study the genetic basis of disease while preserving patient privacy.

Dietrich Stephan, Ph.D., Co-founder and Chief Science Officer

Dietrich Stephan is a human geneticist on the faculty of the Translational Genomics Research Institute and chairman of the National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Microarray Consortium. He has identified genes that predispose to disorders such as autism, exercise-induced heart attacks and sudden infant death syndrome, and contributed to understanding a multitude of common disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.

John Sadler has more than 15 years' experience as a multidisciplinary technology executive. His accomplishments include designing and delivering GenVault's archive for genetic material. He led the architecture and design of Affymetrix GeneChip instrument systems at Agilent as well as Agilent's second-generation gene array system and associated informatics.
