Receiving your personalized genetic report is only the first step in our service. Here are some of the other things that come with your membership:
Entire genome scan
We scan nearly 2 million markers across your genome and locate the ones that are correlated with various health conditions. These markers give you a more personalized view of your genetic susceptibility for certain diseases, augmenting your family and personal health history. This new awareness about your genetic makeup can give you the motivation to engage in better health habits, as well as enable you to monitor your health more actively, on your own and with your physician.
Your personal Genetic Counselor
Navigenics employs a team of board-certified Genetic Counselors who specialize in explaining the full-genome scans that we provide. You will have your own Genetic Counselor, who will help interpret your results in a way that is directly relevant to your personal situation and give you the confidence to take the next step.
Guidance on talking to your doctor
We give you a framework and guidance for talking to your doctor about the implications of your genetic information, so that together you can make better, more informed decisions about your health.
A year's access to your report
As a member, you will be able to access your report on our secure Web site as often as you like, for a full year. Your report will be continually updated as new information becomes available. Toward the end of the year, you will be able to renew your membership to continue to have access to our service.
Science and new condition updates
Genetics is an area burgeoning with new research. As part of your membership, we will keep you apprised of new genetic developments as they affect you. Our Ph.D. researchers review the scientific literature about these conditions, screening studies against our own rigorous internal standards and updating your report as new information comes out. We will e-mail you to let you know when we've refined your results or added a new health condition you can monitor.
Medical updates
We monitor emerging medical research and evaluate new studies for information that can help you take action to make a difference in your health. As long as you maintain a current Navigenics Health Compass membership, you will be able to receive these updates.
