Mr. Mead joined KPCB as a partner in 2005 to work in the life sciences practice. For the past 23 years, his career has focused on identifying new medical technologies, developing new markets and therapies and building world-class management teams, while working with physician thought leaders around the world. Using start-up and management expertise, he supports entrepreneurs and innovators dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of people suffering from life-limiting disease.

Prior to joining KPCB, Mr. Mead was president of Guidant Vascular Intervention, a fully integrated billion-dollar division with more than 4,500 employees. Prior to joining Guidant, he worked in various sales and marketing roles at Allergan, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson. He currently serves on the boards of the California Healthcare Institute, the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, AesThera, Inc., Sonitus, Amigo Therapy, OtisMed Corporation and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. Mr. Mead received a bachelor's degree from Lafayette College and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
