Sean George, Ph.D.

Before joining Navigenics, Dr. George held numerous posts at Affymetrix, Inc., most recently senior vice president of marketing, responsible for the company's marketing, corporate communications, product management and customer relationship management divisions. Dr. George also served as vice president of life science research at Affymetrix, leading the company's $200 million-dollar academic business in North America, Europe, Japan and China.

Dr. George also held posts at Invitrogen, Inc, where he was vice president of diagnostic solutions, managing the company's anatomical pathology diagnostic business and driving business to diagnostic and other tools companies. He was also a business segment director, with responsibility for Invitrogen's Labeling & Detection/Cell Biology business unit. Earlier in his career, Dr. George was strategic planning director at Molecular Probes, the world leader in life science research tools utilizing fluorescent technology, acquired by Invitrogen in 2003. Dr. George was also an associate at McKinsey & Company, where he worked with various clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech and corporate finance practices.

Dr. George received his B.S. in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles, his M.S. in molecular biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
