Sara Riordan, M.S., CGC

Sara Riordan has a diverse background in genetics, including genetic research, teratology, and personalized medicine. As a board-certified Genetic Counselor, Sara has focused her career on providing genetic information via the telephone and Internet.

Sara has a strong interest in promoting genetics education among healthcare professionals and the public. To that end, she has developed numerous consumer Web-based educational resources, and created genomics educational webinars and clinical tools for healthcare professionals. Sara has presented at various national meetings, and has taught undergraduate, medical, pharmacy and genetic counseling students. She has authored many scientific publications, including her research about genetics education in medical schools.

Sara received her Master of Science degree in genetic counseling from the University of Arizona. She also has a master’s degree in human genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she spent time in the laboratory researching the molecular basis of Rett Syndrome.
