Shannon Kieran, M.S., CGC

Shannon Kieran is a board-certified Genetic Counselor and the Director of Genomic Services at Navigenics. She received her master’s degree in genetic counseling from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. As a leader in the field of genomic counseling, Shannon has had the opportunity to work in many clinical settings, including prenatal and cancer genetics, as well as personalized medicine genomics.

Throughout her career, Shannon has worked one-on-one with individuals and healthcare providers to educate them about genetic screening options, discuss test results, and facilitate the medical management of specific genetic diseases and predispositions. Additionally, she is regularly invited to speak to both professional and lay audiences on the topics of genomic counseling, personalized medicine, pharmacogenomics, and the personal and clinical utility of genomic information. Shannon is a believer in open-access learning, and has been instrumental in the development of online learning modules, web-based tools for genomics, and distance learning programs for healthcare providers.

Shannon’s areas of research and publication have focused on cancer predisposition genetics, patient access to genetic testing services, and patient uptake of genetic counseling services through technology-enhanced modalities.
